Following the first workshop by the University of Sydney in 2022, and the second workshop in Melbourne jointly organized by the Department of Economics, University of Melbourne, and the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics, Monash University in 2023, the third Women in Macroeconomics Workshop will be hosted at the Australian National University in Canberra on 11 November 2024.

The objective of the workshop is to bring together women in macroeconomics, broadly defined. The workshop will provide an informal setting for participants to discuss their research. Early career researchers and PhD students are encouraged to participate.

The organizers have also issued a call for papers, seeking paper submissions by 27 September 2024.

The plenary panel of this year’s workshop will feature Victoria Anderson, Deputy Secretary, Small Business, Housing, Corporate and Law Group, Australian Treasury; Professor Renee Fry-McKibbin, Centre for Applied Macroeconomic Analysis, ANU; and Jenny Wilkinson, Secretary, Department of Finance. The panel will discuss synergies between policymakers and academics, including how we can best combine the rigorous research and analytical skills of academic economists with the practical insights and experience of policymakers to shape good economic policy.
